The house started life one hundred and fifty years ago as a small two-roomed stone cottage typical of the type found throughout rural Ireland. It housed many generations of workers, on the large estate of Glendalough, and the adjoining Glendalough and Glendasan lead mines.
We, the Kellehers, took over the property in 1991, when we developed and modernised it into a comfortable family home.
Irish traditional music is one of our family interests, with instruments such as the Irish flute, button accordion, fiddle, tin whistle, guitar and bodhrán, being used regularly in our home.
Our accommodation is of a high standard, offering comfortable en-suite bedrooms and quality breakfast cuisine.
All manner of wildlife live with us in this special valley in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains. Disdainful Wild Goats; Timid Deer; Badgers; Fox; Red Squirrel and Rabbits roam freely in the mountains. While the skies above, are a playground for all manner of birds including the rare Peregrine Falcon which nests on the steep crags above the Upper Lake.
