Carrigaline is located at the head of the Owenabue Estuary, 10 miles south of Cork City. The town centre developed during the seventeenth century around the bridge (bottom left) which spans the Owenabue river .
Now a satellite town of Cork City, it is one of the fastest growing centres in Ireland, having expanded significantly since this photograph was taken 12 years ago.
