BALLYSEEDY

"BALLYSEEDY, a parish, in the barony of TRUGENACKMY, county of KERRY, and province of MUNSTER 4½ miles (S. E. by S.) from Tralee; containing 1,164 inhabitants. This parish is situated on the river Mang or Maine and on the mail coach road from Tralee to Killarney; it comprises 3,509 statute acres, as applotted by the tithe acts.
The river Mang or Maine has its rise in the neighbouring mountains, and empties itself into Castlemaine bay; it abounds with excellent trout."

Note: The Civil Parish of Ballyseedy ceased to be used for census purposes in the mid nineteenth century when District Electoral Divisions (DEDs) were introduced.

The whole of Ballyseedy parish was contained in a single DED, named Ballyseedy, except for the townland of Curraghmacdonagh, which was in Arabela DED
