An 1868 Gazetteer description of the following places in


KILLURY

"KILLURY, a parish in the barony of Clanmaurice, county Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles N. of Ardfert. It contains Causeway, its post town. The surface extends 5 miles in length by 3 in breadth, along the shore of the Shannon estuary, between Kerry Head and Cashen river. There is some bog, and the soil is poor. The living is a rectory and vicarage in the diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe, value £308. The church was lately built by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to those of Rattoo and Ballyheigue. There are three day schools."

"CAUSEWAY, a village in the parish of Killury, in the barony of Clanmaurice, in the county of Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland. It is situated between 6 and 7 miles to the N.E. of Ardfert."

"DRUMKEEN, a village in the parish of Killury, barony of Clanmaurice, in the county of Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland. It is situated near Causeway. Here is a dispensary."
