The surface consists of part of the Blackwater valley. There is a good deal of bog and mountain. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe, value with Drishane, £360, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Drishane. There are two hedge schools."
