The two main concepts of chemistry

This site deals with Organic Chemistry. It is important to acknowledge the other important areas within Chemistry, and their relationship with Organic Chemistry. Chemistry consists of Organic and Inorganic chemistry.

Inorganic Chemistry
Inorganic Chemistry deals with all other areas of Chemistry which do not involve Carbon, for example the reactions between acids and bases.

Organic Chemistry
Organic Chemistry deals with all chemistry related to Carbon, except Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Carbon Monoxide (CO). It involves some of the most common everyday goods such as textiles, petroleum, and plastics.

Polymers
Polymers are long chains of repeating units of Carbon compounds.

Aromatics
Aromatics are Carbon compounds whose structure is based on rings of carbon.

Aliphatics
Aliphatics are Carbon compounds whose structure is based on chains of carbon.

Saturated Compounds
Saturated compounds are compounds in which carbon atoms are joined together by single bonds.

Unsaturated Compounds
Saturated compounds are compounds in which carbon atoms are joined together by double or triple bonds.
