DJ Hayes & Co. Ltd Kilfinane Co. Limerick is a continuation of a business, which was
founded at Ballylanders Co. Limerick in 1881 by Michael G Hayes and his wife Ellen Connery.
Ellen was originally from Moorstown Kilfinane.
From 1918 to 1962 the firm was owned and managed by their son Daniel J Hayes and his wife
Ellen Cronin originally of Marybrook, Kanturk Co. Cork.
From 1962 to 1998 Daniel and Ellen's son Michael G Hayes and his wife Mary Condon formerly
of Rupulagh Glenroe Co. Limerick owned and managed the business.
In 1980 Michael & Mary's son Daniel J Hayes (D.J.) purchased a property at west end Kilfinane
and formed DJ Hayes & Co. Ltd. From this premises he operated a retail furniture outlet and
a branch office for the family estate agency & auctioneering business.
In 1986 DJ married Annette Cagney of Oldtown, Hospital, Co. Limerick. Annette, an
Interior Designer, developed the furniture outlet into a complete interiors shop, which may be viewed
on the other DJ Hayes & Co. Ltd site www.hayes-interiors.com.
In 1998 Michael G Hayes retired and DJ moved the main office for the auctioneering business
to the premises at Kilfinane while maintaining a branch office at Ballylanders. This branch
office is staffed by his sister Mairead Hayes and his mother Mary Hayes.
DJ Hayes and Co. Ltd is a family run business with over 120 years of experience, which
