Experiment:

To verify Ohm's Law

You will need:

  1. A circuit with a battery and a switch
  2. An ammeters
  3. A voltmeter
  4. A variable resistor
  5. A coil of nichrome wire
  6. A beaker of water (to keep temperature constant)
  7. Thermometer

Method:

  1. Set up the circuit with the wire coil submerged in the water.
  2. Set the variable resistor and close the switch
  3. Measure the current and the voltage
  4. Reset the variable resistor and close the switch
  5. Measure the current and the voltage
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 three more times.
  7. Plot the results onto a graph.Put voltage (v) on y axis and current (I) on x axis.

Result:

The graph is a straight line.

Conclusion:

The straight line shows that the voltage is directly proportional to the current. Ohm's Law proven!
