Donegal Town started their Derry League campaign in unconvincing fashion in losing to North West A of Letterkenny four two at home. The sole winner on the night was ace cueist Charlie Murphy who struck breaks of 32 and 33 in defeating Paul Doherty. County Champion Anthony Bonnar proved too strong for Shane Faulkner while Donegal's highest ranked player Pat Bonnar defeated Tom Plunkett two nil. This was Tom's first ever whitewash in the Derry League and his present form is not encouraging with the Donegal League up and running as well.

Donegal Town had no match in the Donegal League but elsewhere Johnny Whyte from North West stunned the other clubs by compiling a huge break of 110 in his opening match. He also compiled a 62 and Donegal Town congratulates him on his fantastic start to the season.

In local competitions, Terry Mullin and Martin Mulhern have reached the quarter-finals of the John Griffin Cup. The favourite though must be Charlie Murphy who defeated Damien Hanna in his latest match.

The Paddy Kelly Cup is the junior championship and it has reached its closing stages with Fergal Browne the first semi-finalist. We could be looking at an all-Browne final as brother Conor is in the quarter-finals. The smart money though is on Brian Heeney to win through.

The A.G.M. of the Snooker Club was a successful affair with the many achievements of the last year being catalogued. Membership fees were left unchanged at £20 for adults, £5 for older students and £2 for juniors. Table fees remain unchanged at 60p per game of snooker, 50p per game of golf and 50p per game of pool. The junior rate of 40p remains unchanged. The members were in agreement that all our sponsors should be thanked publicly for their generous support. The outgoing committee was re-elected and a minute's silence was observed in honour of deceased members and their relatives. We remember in particular junior member Chris Folan who has tragically lost his mum at such a young age. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
