Week 16 of the Lyric Donegal League saw North West reclaim top spot in the league by virtue of winning four nil at home to Convoy B and CYMS having their game with Ramelton A postponed. North West were as ruthless with the B side as they had been a week earlier with the Convoy first team. Not a frame was lost for the second week running as Bernard McGuinness, Gerry McCloskey, Joe Devine and Gerry McKeever hit top form.

Twin Towns B and Ramelton B had a great tussle in Ballybofey, drawing two apiece. Mark Bell and Marcus Devlin got the home side off to a great start but Ramelton are a never-say-die side and they fought back magnificently through Francis Murray and Peter Friel to earn their second point of the season.

Killea were handed the points by North West B when the Letterkenny side couldn't make the trip. Rumour has it that this was due to complications arising out of Valentine's night commitments!

Donegal won a tough encounter with fourth placed Convoy A in Convoy. Charlie Murphy got the away side off to a good start, winning by two frames to nil against John Lynch. Oliver Plunkett made it two for Donegal by beating Gordon Galbraith. Willie Breen began the fight-back, convincingly defeating Paul Thomas two nil. Tom Plunkett had to come from behind to get the better of an in-form Justin Lynch two one which guaranteed all three points for Donegal Town.

North West lead the Lyric League with 37 points, CYMS have 35, Donegal 33, Killea and Convoy A 24 each, Ramelton A and North West B 18 each, Twin Towns A 13, Twin Towns B 10, Convoy B 9 and Ramelton B have 2 points.

Chris Gibbons still leads the Player of the Year rankings on 13 wins, with Tom Plunkett, Phelim McClafferty and Gerry McKeever on 12 wins apiece. Gerry McCloskey, Joe Devine and Robert Brown have 11 each, while Oliver Plunkett and Johnny Connors have 9 wins.

In the Junior League, Twin Towns stretched their lead at the top by drawing with a strong North West outfit at home. Robin Hannigan got the home side off to a wonderful start by taking the scalp of the highly rated Michael O'Hara. Jason Browne made it two soon afterwards but Stephen Black led the revival for the Letterkenny men, defeating the previously unbeaten Simon Connolly two one. Johnny Connors levelled the tie two nil and in so doing leapfrogged Simon into first place on the Player of the Year ladder. Conor Browne of Donegal lies third in the individual tournament.

Twin Towns lead the league with 8 points, Donegal are second on 7 with North West third, also on 7 with an inferior win-loss ratio. Convoy are fourth but are improving with every game.
