DONEGAL TOWN SNOOKER CLUB

DONEGAL LEAGUE

Donegal defeated Northwest B four one in their penultimate league fixture. Winners on the night were Charlie Murphy, Paul Thomas, Tom Plunkett and Michael Neary. Declan Ryle was the unlucky one to miss out. Tom's break of forty was the highlight in a low-key fixture. Northwest A are the champions once again and Donegal will have to try and fill second position which would be a satisfactory result after a long campaign.

 OPEN PAIRS POOL CHAMPIONSHIP

The semi-final stage has been reached in the Open Pairs Pool Championship sponsored by The Blue Stack, The Dew Drop Inn, The National and Jimmy's Tavern. Tom and Oliver Plunkett face Christian Carbin and Steven Duncan in a repeat of last year's final. The winners play Terry Mullin and Paul Cannon who defeated Dermot Dunlevy and Aidi Wilson in the other semi-final. They also accounted for Niall Thomas and Liam McNulty in the quarter final so they will be a tough nut to crack in the final.

 SEAN McCAFFERTY CUP

Damian Hanna defeated Sean Boyle in the semi-final and will face Tom Plunkett in the final. Damian has progressed in a quiet fashion to his first final in many years after a long layoff. Michael Breslin won this cup last year in his first competition after returning to the club, so the omens look good for Damian. Tom defeated brother Oliver in the other semi-final and will participate in his fourth final in succession.

 CONNACHT CHAMPION

The club congratulate Anthony Bonnar on winning the Connacht Championship last week. Playing former champion, Letterkenny man Aidan Devanney in the final showed how strong Donegal snooker is at present and defeating Anthony is still the benchmark result that players aim for.

 CLUB RESTRUCTURING

The layout of the club's facilities has been changed, with three tables now present in the senior room. This has already cut the waiting time for games, a great boon with such a large membership.
