Three Donegal Town players were in action in the Western Close held last weekend in the Northwest Snooker Centre in Letterkenny. Paul Thomas and Justin Thomas couldn't find their form against excellent opponents, with Justin's conqueror compiling a break of 73 en route. Tom Plunkett defeated old rival Darren Flaherty (who compiled a 68) from Ballina 3-1 before losing to 1999 County Champion Phelim McClafferty 3-1 in the quarter-final. This was a repeat of the 2000 County Semi-final and Phelim potted well to avenge that defeat.

The draw has been made for the Paddy Kelly Cup. This is the Junior Snooker Championship and all 28 players play off scratch. All matches must be played by the dates shown.

The A.G.M. of the County League will take place on Wednesday the 27th of September.

Recent winners in the John Griffin Cup include Martin Mulhern who got the better of Tony Thomas, Paddy Kelly who defeated old rival Sean McCauley and Shane Faulkner who eliminated Patsy McNulty.
