The Donegal Snooker League began on Wednesday with four clubs' A teams meeting their B teams. The clubs involved were Ramelton, North West, Twin Towns and Convoy. In the other match Killea faced CYMS in Letterkenny.

If the rest of the season is as electric as the first series of matches, we are in for a treat! Star of the night was undoubtedly Johnny Whyte from North West A who was in sensational form against up-and-coming Johnny Connors. Johnny compiled a magnificent break of 110 against the thirteen year old. This is one of the highest breaks ever in the history of the Donegal League and it proves that Johnny is back to his best following his illness last season. Welcome back Johnny!! Young Connors fought back to take the second frame but the older man wasn't finished...a break of 62 in the third frame rounded off a great evening for spectators in the North West Snooker Club. North West went on to defeat their B side 4-0 thanks to Bernard McGuinness, Gerry McKeever and Joe Devine but the fact that three of the matches went to a third frame illustrates how tight it was.

Twin Towns defeated their B side four nil. They will undoubtedly be a force this season.

CYMS are another fancied side and they got off to a fine start with a three one win over Killea. Winners for the CYMS were Chris Gibbons, Paddy McGroarty and captain Phelim McClafferty who compiled a fine break of 50 in his win against Gerald Lennon. Robert Brown replied for Killea.

Convoy A and B drew in their derby match.

Ramelton A defeated their B side three one.
