DONEGAL SNOOKER CLUB

The club had a mixed week on the league front with a four one defeat against leaders Northwest A over-shadowing a fine four two victory away to CYMS B in the Derry League.

The first trip to Letterkenny was productive with new club number one Charles Murphy and Tom Plunkett winning two nil. Michael Neary played well but couldn't shake off a determined opponent in Adrian McFadden.

Two days later the story was very different. Northwest A sent out their strongest side and though Donegal fought valiantly, it was to no avail. Charlie Murphy was off his game against an awesome Gerry McCloskey while six times county champion Anthony Bonner proved too strong for Paul Thomas. Martin Mulhern and Michael Neary fought gallantly only to succumb in the final stages of the final frame. Tom Plunkett maintained his one hundred percent record in the league by defeating old adversary Pat Bonner two nil. But this was but a crumb of comfort to a battle weary side.

The draw has been made for the Barry Mulreany sponsored Harry Diver Cup. Forty-four "veterans" have entered and they are asked to play their matches as soon as possible.

Entries are sought for the Pool Pairs Championship sponsored by Jimmy's Tavern, The National, The Blue Stack and The Dew Drop Inn. Contact Martin Mulhern, Patsy McNulty or John McGlanaghey if you wish to enter. The entry fee is five pounds per pair.

The club wishes continued good health to Dan McLaughlin and Johnny White in their recuperation.
