DONEGAL TOWN SNOOKER CLUB

Donegal started the New Year on a losing note against Maxibreak of Derry. Tom Plunkett drew one apiece with Richard Wylie, scoring a 37 break on route, while his brother Oliver had a break of 30 in his draw with Nigel Feeney. This was a credible performance from Oliver considering that he was making his debut in the Derry League. Michael Neary found Pascal McKenna in top form and couldn’t prevent the Derryman winning two nil. So Donegal had to be content with bringing two points back from Derry.

Donegal achieved a happier result in the Donegal League, defeating Convoy B four one. Two-nil winners on the night were Charlie Murphy, Paul Thomas and Tom Plunkett while Michael Neary won two one. Shane Faulkner was unlucky to lose two one. With the leaders Northwest A winning five nil, Donegal cannot afford to drop many more points.

The draw for the Sean McCafferty Cup will take place on the 12th of January. Anyone who hasn’t yet paid his membership should do so in order to gain entry to this competition.

The club is once again organising a Pool Pairs Championship. The draw will be at the end of the month and everyone is welcome to enter. The entry fee is £5 per pair.

John McGlanaghey has generously donated a cup to the club and the committee has decided to start a new annual pool competition for the junior beginners. John wishes the cup to be named The Coulter Memorial Cup as a mark of respect to a family that has contributed greatly to the club down the years. The competition will commence soon. The committee thanks both John McGlanaghey and Paddy Kelly for donating cups to the junior members.
