Week six of the Lyric County Donegal Snooker League saw wins for Donegal Town, North West A, CYMS, Convoy A and Convoy B.

CYMS have begun the league with a flourish and they continued their impressive form with a three one away win against North West B. Phelim McClafferty and Chris Gibbons kept up their 100% records with Anthony Duffy ensuring that all three points went their way. Newly crowned Connacht Under 16 champion Johnny connors replied for the home team.

The defending champions North West A are also in magnificent early season form and they scored another excellent away win, this time against Ramelton A. Bernard McGuinness led by example with Joe Devine and Gerry McCloskey grabbing the other two precious wins. Philip Friel replied for Ramelton A.

Donegal Town are the outsiders for this year's title and they are hanging on to the coat-tails of the two Letterkenny teams. They defeated Twin Towns A three one in Donegal in a close encounter. Tom Plunkett got the better of 1996 County Champion Jack McGranaghan in a scrappy match while his brother Oliver was in superb form against Mathew McAuley. Terry Mullin was clinical in winning two nil but Michael Neary was in subdued form against the talented thirteen year old Jason Brown, losing two one.

Convoy A defeated Twin Towns A earlier in the season and they returned to Ballybofey to complete the double, beating Twin Towns B four nil. Winners on the night were Darren Ponsonby, John Lynch, Willie Breen and Justin Lynch. They now move into fourth place in the league.

The final match saw Convoy B defeating Ramelton B three one at home. Paul Lynch, Andrew Doherty and Chris Devenney were the men in form with Peter Friel replying for the visitors.

In the Player of the Year standings Christopher Gibbons and Phelim McClafferty of the CYMS still lead the way with six wins apiece closely followed by Robert Brown who also has a 100% record with a game in hand. Oliver Plunkett has moved into fourth spot.

The biggest break to date is still the 110 achieved by Johnny Whyte of North West A in the opening week with Charlie Murphy in second with an 84 and Phelim McClafferty in third with a 78. Johnny had a 134 in practise recently and has three breaks over 60 in the league so far this season.
