Donegal began 2001 in fine style with a resounding 4-2 victory away to Roesiders of Limavady in the Derry League. Michael Neary drew one apiece with Noel McDermott and Oliver Plunkett replicated this by drawing with Sean McCann. Tom Plunkett ensured a happy return to Donegal by taking both frames off Adrian Pearson. The result leaves Donegal in fourth place but fifth placed CYMS lie just five points behind with two games in hand. The top four will contest the play-offs.
In a key top-of-the-table clash, Donegal battled to a 2-2 draw away to second-placed CYMS in the Donegal League. Michael Neary's good form continued with a great comeback against young Anthony Duffy. Trailing by 28 with three reds left in the final frame, Michael potted and snookered his way to a respotted black and kept his nerve to win a fine match. Oliver Plunkett was up against Player of the Year leader Chris Gibbons who potted fluently in the deciding frame to edge home. Terry Mullin met an in-form Paddy McGroarty who compiled a 31 break en route to a two-nil win. Tom Plunkett ensured a draw for Donegal by coming from behind to beat old rival Phelim McClafferty two one.
Donegal defeated Convoy B four nil in Donegal last week. Winners on the night were Michael Neary, Oliver Plunkett, Paul Thomas and Tom Plunkett. The club lie third, five points behind leaders CYMS with a game in hand.
Donegal lost a key match in the Derry League four two to Pot Black. Tom Plunkett and brother Oliver salvaged draws from their matches but Michael Neary was unfortunate to meet Kevin Sala in deadly form and the Derryman triumphed two nil. This has dented Donegal's chances of progressing to the quarter-finals.

The draw for the Sean McCafferty has been made. The holder is Damien Hanna. Already through to the next round are Paul Thomas, Brian Heeney, Kieran Temple and Brendan Chambers.
The draw for the Coulter Cup sponsored by David Crawford and John McGlanaghey has been made. The holder is Kevin Mulhern. The first round matches have been completed on schedule and second round matches should be completed by February 16.
Donegal won their third Junior League match three one versus Convoy. Brian Heeney, Aidan McFadden and Mark Mulhern all won two nil but Conor Browne was the victim of a great comeback by Seamus Sweeney in the final match.

The club is roughly fifty years in its current location and Tom Plunkett is researching its past with a view to writing a booklet to record its colourful history.
