PANA '90 REVISITED

Will Liam meet Sam by the Leeside come September? Sa Pheile Mór the Boys from the County Armagh or Boylan’s Royalists bar our way. Me thinks the Granny Smith men will have to be content with the ashes of Brian Boru. Rebels eyeballing the Royal County? No problem! We’ve already ‘throne’ one kingdom into oblivion, another would be easy ‘meat’.
Sa Iománaoicht our 99 C BMW (Barry-Murphys-Wonders) should purr its way Leeside bearing silver, wiping the Cheshire smile from the cats of Mooncoin.
‘66 ended Cork’s fancied Cill Coinnaigh. Turn over ‘66 and you get ‘99. A favourable omen is it not?
Vibes say we’re ‘bankers’ for the double.

PROGRESS? THANK THE LORD!

Dear Michael,
Reading that letter in your Douglas Weekly about St. Columba’s Hall, prompted me to write to you. I walked down Douglas East from the Church which is being painted at the moment and looking lovely. I passed the Garden Centre. I was appauled to see it closed, came to St. Columba’s Hall and said to myself, “How long more is that Hall going to be standing?”
I walked to the old Garda Station and met an old friend. I asked him about the Garden Centre. To my horror I was told that apartments are being built, but was delighted to hear the Rugby Club bought St. Columba’s Hall. Thank the Lord.
We looked across the road to see a big open space, where the Merries ‘our Disneyland’, once stood. The landmark for Douglas Village for 100 years, just raped apart in a few days. Take a bow County Hall planners, ‘ye are doing a great job’, in the name of so called progress.

Disgusted villager.
