Cork City
Ballet Announces The Forthcoming Launch Of Its New Book.
One
of Ireland’s leading ballet dancers, Alan Foley,
will launch his new book “Cork
City Ballet
– the story so far”,
on Tuesday 16th September at the Millennium Hall in the City Hall
Cork. This
publication is the first of its kind and features
lavish and intimate photographic portraits of the company and
of its founder and former principal dancer.
Featuring
more than 400 photographs
this book captures
Cork City Ballet’s founder,
Artistic
Director, and former Principal
Dancer, Alan Foley, from
his early days of training with Joan Denise Moriarty, to the
present day. It
demonstrates the many aspects of life as a dancer in Ireland and
documents the
progression of Foley’s career and of
his ballet company.
Speaking
recently, Alan
Foley commented: “ My hope with this new book is to encourage as many young
Irish people as possible to follow their dream of becoming a ballet dancer, and
help them realize that with hard work and dedication it is possible to overcome
the difficult challenges along the way.”
Cork
City Ballet will be touring Ireland in November with its production of ‘The
Sleeping Beauty Suite & Divertissements’
including The Helix in Dublin, Siamsa Tire in Tralee, the University Concert
Hall Limerick and the Cork Opera House.
The book will be available in Easons from September.
