The stretch of coast from Greystones to Wicklow town has been described as "probably the best match stretch in Europe". This, of course, doesn't mean the best angling in Europe. It means long, even stretches of steep beach with good access and a fair distribution of fish.

South Beach, Greystones, is the start of the famous match stretch, but not the most popular part of it. At times it can be excellent, but all too often it lives up to its nickname of "The Hungry Acre".

Despite the fact that this match stretch is very fair and even, there are certain hot-spots and holes which devotees swear by.

The map above will help point you in the right direction.
