St. Joseph’s Boys’ National School is a Catholic , primary school which strives to provide a well ordered,
caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical
and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed. While St.
Joseph’s is a school with a catholic ethos, it also has due recognition for all
other religions.
St. Joseph's Boys'

replaced an old school building situated in the centre of the town .This old
school was built in 1899 and celebrated its centenary in 1999. It is now known
as the Matt Talbot Parochial Centre and is used by the community.
On the 25th of June
1984 the new extension to St Joseph's School was officially opened by Mr. Tom

Statue of St. Joseph
At the front entrance to the school we have a seven foot statue of St. Joseph depicted feeding the birds with the Christ Child. The sculptor was GARRY TRIMBLE [1929-1979]. He is renowned for painting portraits of our past presidents Éamonn De Valera , Cearbhaill Ó' Dálaigh and of famous politicians including Charles Haughey and Seán Mac Bride. He also made the statue of St. Patrick for St. Patrick's Church, Bermuda.
