Axis 30 The new Simrad Axis 30 radio is purpose-designed as a GMDSS compliant emergency handheld VHF. It is ideally suited for use in a liferaft, although it can also provide emergency communications in the event of a vessel losing electrical power. The Axis 30 features a removable lithium battery that gives an amazing 15 hours use, and will hold charge for up to five years. In keeping with Simrads ease-of-use approach, Axis 30 can be operated with no previous training. It has large, clear, illuminated controls, enabling full use of the radio in total darkness. It is also reassuring to know that the unit is buoyant if dropped in water. Axis 150 and 250 Also available are the recently launched Axis 150 and 250 radios which serve as excellent handheld radios for everyday use when fitted with rechargeable batteries. With a separate lithium cell standing by they also double as emergency radios for GMDSS compliance. The 250 offers 55 international channels plus up to 16 private channels and the 150 model has 16 channels. Both models have illuminated channel indication to enable effective use in total darkness. |
