Although his sire Accordion has produced Dato Star and other useful 2m performers, His Song has always been considered a potential 3m chaser. The fact that as a novice he was able to run Istabraq, who by any reckoning was an outstanding Champion Hurdle winner, to a lenght and a half at Leopardstown in Janurary demonstrates the talent which nestles within the 5yr old's imposing frame.
The late French Ballerina's flat speed proved too much for His Song at Cheltenham but the form was reversed when the two met again on much more testing ground at Punchstown in April. It's been rumoured that substantial offers from Martin Pipe's team were made for His Song last Spring, but he remains in Ireland with the Royal and Sun Alliance Chase the obvious target.
