This piece is carved from Beech. It stands 68 tall, shown here on a circular Ash base. This piece is not part of any collection as such. It is a one-off carving based on an Ancient Celtic Legend. According to Legend Lir's four children Fionnuala, Aodh, Fiachra, and Conn were transformed into swans and forced to roam the earth for 900 years by an evil enchantress. The carving captures the instant of the transformation as the uppermost child rises to the air as a swan.
