Yet another good weekend for the Club

The Club had another good weekend in both league and SFAI Cup competitions. On a sour note, though, the under-11 team lost their second round SFAI Menton Seery Cup game, away to Ardmore, in Wicklow. Ardmore broke the substitute law blatantly, in front of all present and the Club must now decide whether to appeal on these grounds or not. Never in the Club's history have we appealed on something that happened on the field of play However, I think this situation may be different, as manager Brian Dunne was so disappointed over Ardmore management's blatant misuse of the substitute rule, that an appeal could be on the cards. Elsewhere in SFAI Cup competition, there were excellent wins for the Club's under-13 and under-15 teams. The Club's under-9 Premier and under-14 teams still remain unbeaten, while the under-10 Development and under-12s continued their recent good form.

Player of the Week

With the Club's under-12 team now in a rich vein of form, Player of the Week goes to Mark Nolan of this team, for a superb hat-trick in their away game, against Naas AFC.

Goal of the Week

This week's Goal of the Week goes to Martin McNamee, from the Club's under-14 team. A great shot from outside the box, after some great team approach

Anniversary Tournament finals

Last Sunday, the Club held their Anniversary Tournament finals in a packed Paddy Maloney Park. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of John, Marie and Orla Foley and Accelerated Drain Cleaning, the Club could afford to provide what can only be described as fabulous Cups and Trophies for all who took part. We kicked off with the Colts section and then got into the thick of things, with the under-8s and under-10 finals. In the under-8 final proper, Ireland never really got going but, in fairness, a very strong Arsenal side, captained by John Collins, were worthy winners. Liverpool, captained by Ross Mangan, won the under-10 section, a lone goal, by Evan Daly, enough to secure victory
