Windows XP & TTS speech Application No registration need Free to use

EchoNewsTTS is a simple to use Windows XP utility that allows the Sysop/Owner of a Repeater or Link to send News Information to their RF users. News text is supplied on some club web sites. The news can be read to the RF users any day of the week and any time The program runs alongside EchoLink and uses the Microsoft Speech engine.

Initial Setup

Download the EchoNewsTTS.zip software into a directory unzip the software (1 file) and run. There is no installing the software simply put the file anywhere and run it ( Mine is on the desktop )

I used NeoSpeech voices from http://www.nextup.com. I found Kate16 to be the best.

Check in your Control Panel for the speech Icon and that your Text to Speech is working first before running EchoTTS. I have not tried it on any of the other windows. If you have and it works let me know. Check out the Microsoft web site Microsoft Speech SDK 5.1 for more information.

Text Box

This box holds the contents of the text file that is downloaded from the club web site or your own web site. The data is editable but will not be saved as the data that you download changes regular so its pointless saving it.

Day & Time Periods

Simply tick the day or days that you want the text to be read out. There are 2 time periods (Play the same day) that can be entered for the text to be transmitted. The transmitted text will only be heard by your RF users

Read URL

This button is used if you wish to get the data now.

Get URL Data

This is the time period that is used for the program to go and collect the text data from your club website. You may not want to use this if the club only give news one a week.

Clear

This button will clear the text box

Say Internet Text Plus PTT

This button will enable you to sent the information to your RF users.

Say Text no PTT

This button will enable you to here the information through your head phones.

Save Changes

This button will save all your changes

Be aware the information in the text box will not be changed as it changes frequently and there is no point in changing it

Exit/Save Data

This button will save all your changes to any of the fields then exit the program.
