Conor Wins In Armagh
HOME

Conor Murphy won his biggest race to date last Sunday in taking top spot in the Tour of Armagh and in doing so took a couple major scalps . Conor got into a 8 man break on the first major climb of the day just outside Markethill and when they got over the Keady Mountain the group had dwindled down to 4 men Conor , David Mc Cann (Volks Bank Ideal ) pro team, Denis Easton and Gary Crory both riding for (Total cycling .com). Mc Cann punctured but as they got to Armagh he had caught up with the three leaders and made atext book attack and gained 30 seconds on the other 3 inc Conor . With 12 mile remaining it was time for Murphy to turn the screw and with in a couple of mile they had caught Mc Cann at this point Mc Crory had droped back which left the 3 to fight it out for top spot in this classic league event . Murphy seen that the other 2 where tiring coming up to the sprint so went for the long sprint and finished with 2 seconds to spare over Mc Cann and Easton. Jonathan Gormely also took part in this race and finished in the main field well done to both.
