Throughout this year and last year Ms.Healy's class have been doing the composting. We starting by getting two bins that fruit waste was going to go into. I was very surprised to see the two bins full after we had gone around to the classes.

When we had gotten our gloves we went over to the pitch where the composter was. We emptied our two bins in order and covered the fruit in old grass and old leaves. At the start we had a lot of trouble trying to stop people from putting items which rightfully belong in the other two bins into the composting bins. We also had trouble with orange peels, we thought them to be acidic and we thought they wouldn’t decompose properly, but after our trip to Shannon we found out that you can put orange peels into the composter. From then on we had an easy routine, collect the fruit from all the classes, put them in the composter, put old grass and leaves in the composter too and on Friday put a bucket of water in the composter and mix it all around with a stick so that it can get air.
