Mr. Egan rolls out National Fire Safety Pack: 3rd/4th Class

A talk on Fire Safety was give to 3rd/4th Class as part of a National Education Fire Safety Programme by Local fire Officier Seamus Egan, in the presence of the teacher. During the talk the children are given the "Safety Team" pack.

The target group are 8 - 9 year old school children and the method employed to deliver the fire safety message was through a package called "Safety Team". This programme was seen to be effective because
. The children receive a level of fire safety education for an hour through age - appropriate interaction in the school;
.
 The children return Home Safety Check Sheets, which have been filled out by a family member in the home;
. This completed Home Safety Check Sheet is evidence of the key fire safety message reaching inside the home and is also a valuable resource for statistical purposes; and
. The children are further encouraged to "educate" others, i.e. grandparents, uncles, neighbours, friends, etc. in fire safety.Many thanks to Seamus for a Great Talk.All the classes enjoy a demonstration of the local Fire Engine.
