My sighting of the Sowerbys Beaked Whale.

By Jack Kilcullen

I was just home from a soccer match when I heard that my uncle had spotted one of the most rarest Whales to Ireland. I got on my shoes and ran down to him and my dad. Then as we were just about to go down the Whale experts came and came with us. The Whale experts took a few minutes to look at it and still couldn’t identify it. The Whale has only been found five times ever in Ireland!! The Whale is originally  found in Mexico and along the coast of South America. It was amazing to actually see and get close to a very rare species of Whale like this. They cut him up and buried him on the beach. The Scientists cut off his head and have brought it to the national Museum of Ireland.

The whale distinctive beak which gives it its name.

We can see how big the whale is when Jack stands beside it.
