Traditional Crafts:

Knitting and Sewing.

Traditional knitting and sewing is back at Scoil Chríost Rí. Not since Mrs. Gallagher’s day has we seen such beautiful work. This 3rd and 4th class was really enthusiastic about knitting and sewing. We started with easy projects such as purses, hair bands and sweatbands and progressed to learning how to read and knit from knitting patterns. They knitted some beautiful toys. This continued throughout the year.

After Easter we set about making a beautiful gift for Mum. We purchased embroidery hoops and the school supplied some beautifully coloured embroidery threads. Mrs Mulligan traced some pictures onto material and we used simple embroidery stitches to fill in the pictures – straight stitch, French knot, looped stitch. Hope you enjoy their efforts!
