Táim
Táim or tá mé means I am;
Nílim or Níl mé means I am not;
and An bhfuil mé? means Am I?
You should learn and practice these three forms
with adjectives like ard tall,óg young, aosta old, cliste clever,
tanaí thin, ramhar fat, mór big, beag small.
or with adverbs like go maith well, go dona bad, go breá fine,
go réasúnta well enough, reasonable, go measartha "middling"
You can use adjectives after Tá mé but not nouns. Not nouns!
Use is for nouns: Is múinteoir mé. I am a teacher.
This is the biggest and most widespread mistake made by
learners of Irish -- and others! Nevertheless you will be understood.
