Tá Yes Níl No Please note that there are as many words for "yes" as there are verbs in Irish! Use the question verb in your reply to a question. So in response to the question An é Cian do dheartháir? Is Cian your brother? the reply would be is é or is ea not tá ! By the way is é and is ea should always be pronounced 'sé and 'sea.Because ea is the only neutral pronoun in Irish it is more useful as a general "yes" reply but it is better to use the verb from the question in the response as well.
