ag caint le hÁine talking with (to) Áine

ag caint talking

le with

le with is a "réamhfhocal simplí" or simple preposition.

Because Áine begins with a vowel and the e of le cannot be elided a h is put between the two words to separate them. Unlike some other prepositions le has no effect (úrú eclipse or séimhiú aspiration) on the initial consonant of a following noun.

More information on prepositions will be offered later on in these lessons.
