Radiohead are the best recording band in the world. They have been described as "The Pink Floyd of the 90's". Artistic, poetic, sometimes screaming lyrics over a hard guitar riff(The Bends, Creep, Electioneering etc.) sometimes allowing Thom Yorkes crooning lyrics to be heard over the sweetest of melody's (Street Spirit [fade out], No Surprises). I first heard of Radiohead when they were coming to play an outdoor gig in my hometown. I flicked through my Dad's Q magazines until I found something about them and then discovered that they had been featured on two freebie CD's given out by the same magazine. The first track I heard was "Thinking About You" a track off the pAblo hONEY Album, then I heard a song that I still regard as the greatest song of all time a pleading desperate lyric of doom laced over the sweetest most hope-inspiring melody: Street Spirit [fade out]. One of my friends bought the pABLO hONEY album shortly after and then I realised I knew Creep as well. If ever there has been a track that almost everyone I know has identified with at some stage in their life that's it "What am I doing here, I don't belong here" no-one had tapped into Generation X so well since Nirvana, Creep summed us all up. It was adopted as an anthem by all us teenage brats of the time. Anyway, I never got to go to the concert because none of my friends wanted to go and I wasn't prepared to go on my own but I've since bought every Radiohead cd I can get my hands on to date and the next time they play Ireland wild horses won't keep me away...
Well, as anyone who knows anything about music can tell you Radiohead have been pretty quiet lately. They are however back in their portable studio and recording their fourth album. Meanwhile we'll have to listen to the old music, find the obscurities availible on the net (MP3 has to be the greatest invention in years) . It's difficult to find anything to update the page with at the moment because Radiohead have been so quiet so I think I'll probably just transcribe some of the interviews and press clippings etc. I have on them. Enjoy and keep listening to the greatest prog. rock band in the world!
UPDATE: (01/10/1999) I am now a proud member of the Radiohead web-ring so you can now jump from my site to another radiohead site, cool huh? Now that I'm back in College I have a lot more time on my hands so Nobody Does It Better is in for a major update. More TABS, A photo Gallery, completion of the lyrics, possibly a song by song guide to the music of RH (Thom & Co. don't like their music being analysed), a section with transcripts of interviews/reviews etc, are on their way. Sadly, I don't have the space on this server to create an MP3 archive but my RA files are still here. So bookmark me / add me to your favourites and come back soon.
UPDATE: (16/10/1999) This site is now being moved to a new server courtesy of eircom. This will give me more room to add even more information, pics, tabs etc on the worlds greatest band! ADDED: Thom's Tour Diary from Radiohead's 1995 tour when they supported R.E.M., A Lyrics Section & a visual update of the page itself.
