This is my first battle report, a 2000 point game, Orcs vs Skaven. The armies may seem odd in some ways, because me and my friends play under our own house rules:
No level 4 wizards
No special Characters
No Vermin Lords(Rats!)
No intensely beardy magic items(black gem of gnar, Black Amulet to name but a few)
Games tend to much more fun when you are relying more on units than characters.
I, WarlordQueek, will be personally leading Queek's Clan Rictus Raiding Force, and my good friend Grimbad Ironclaw will be leading Skullstomp's Motley Krew.
So lets get fightin'!
The Armies Queek’s Clan Riktus Raiding Force I picked this army to maximise my number of units, so I could surround the Orcs and negate their rank bonuses. The two small slave units had one purpose, to be hit with fanatics, and made the unusual choice of a solo Warlord to move quickly around the sides of units and then attack. A bit beardy, but effective.
HehHehHeh, Death will come-come to the greenskins today!

The Armies Deploy
Skaven Turn 1
Listening to the high-pitched squeaks of their general, the entire Skaven army marched at full speed for their green-skinned enemies. Kritak the Warlock Master spurred his Wyvern into a climb for one of the central towers giving him a domineering view of the battlefield. At a signal from their leader, the Gutter Runners stealthily ran out from their tower to take up an ambush position behind the Orc Arrer Boyz. The Winds of Magic blew weakly across the battlefield, yielding only two cards. The cards were stored. Kritak took a firm hold of his ancient staff of Flaming Death and a bolt of screaming fire shot towards the Night Goblins, and two fell to the flickering fire. The gobbos remained steady in the face of such horror, and stood their ground.
The Orc army clumped its way towards the Skaven under the watchful eye of Warlord Skullstomp. After some roaring and yelling from Bonecrusha, the Arrer Boyz let out a hail of black-fletched arrows. To their surprise, four of the elite Stormvermin fell with arrow protruding from their lifeless bodies. Kerplunk, the Night Goblin Shaman had a good think and finally remembered the words to the Gaze of Mork spell. Again the Winds of Magic were weak, coming up with only a single card for each side. Despite this, power blazed from the small shamans eyes and seared towards the Skaven General, seeing through the protective shadows surrounding him. Ratslik quickly chittered the incantation on an ancient scroll and the Gaze's power faded.
Queek ordered his flanking slaves to draw out the Goblin fanatics he could see writhing in the grips of the Night Goblins.
The fanatics moved and in their hurry one of them smashed into a building. The other surviving
fanatic however, using the extra power of Mad Cap Mushrooms, got 10 hits on the Stormvermin and killed eight, their skulls caved in by his huge iron ball. The rest of the army moved forward with the Boarboyz charging the slaves. All fleeing units rallied and once again set their primitive eyes on the Skaven horde. In the combat between the Boarboyz and the slaves, the slaves took heavy casualties and fled, just about managing to outpace the fuming Warboars. In the combat between the Arrer Boyz and the Assassin, Bonecrusha waded through the unit to face the treacherous skaven killer. The Black Orc Boss soon succumbed to the deadly blades of the trained killer, yet the unit held strong. In the magic phase, due to the inactive Fwazap and Kerplunk's poor positioning, no spells were cast.
The Skaven General moved up behind the tower that the Wyvern was perched upon in order to charge next turn. Queek opted to flee with the defeated skavenslaves and watched as Kritak spurred his Wyvern into a dive straight for the Orc master shaman. After the quick skavenslave defeat the spear-armed skaven turned to meet Warlord Skullstomp and his Boarboyz. The Gutter Runners managed to rally, and the rest of the Skaven swept forward for the massive Black Orc unit. In combat the Wyvern managed to wound Fwazap while Kritak missed due to the energy used in holding on the the swooping Wyvern. Fwazap also failed to wound the great beast and was routed off the battlefield, running for the horizon. Although the Skaven assassin killed an Arrer Boy, he still lost the combat and fled and was caught by the brutal Orcs. The winds of magic were strengthening, and six cards were forthcoming, but the only power card fell into the hands of the Skaven. Ratslik attempted to cast Skitterleap on himself, but it was dispelled.
Hoping to get to grips with the Warlock Master, Slygit called for his unit to charge, but due to the weakling Gobbos fear of the Wyvern, they could not be cajoled into moving, despite much head-bashin' by Slygit. Skullstomp led his ladz in a charge against the spear armed clanrat unit. Several pistol shots pattered off the boar's thick hides, but a blast of black-green warpflame engulfed two boarboyz, who disintegrated. The Black Orcs remained rooted to the spot, awaiting the Skaven charge. In the shooting phase, the Arrer Boyz managed to kill two more gutter runners, who promptly fled....again. Behind the main battle line the Clanrat champion squeaked a challenge to Warlord Skullstomp, who duly proceeded to hack the insolent champion to bitz. The boarboyz and their mounts them slaughtered five more of the clanrats. After a convincing loss the unit fled...straight into the last fanatic! Another two were killed by the loon, delighted with his luck. Now Skullstomp faced a dilemma, to pursue and hack the filthy rats to pieces, he also had to go through the fanatic. Being the Orc he was, he decided to go for it. Luckily, only one boarboy died, and the clanrats were trodden under the hooves of the smelly boars. In the magic phase Kerplunk targeted the Wyvern with Gaze of Mork, but failed to wound.
The Black Orcs ground their teeth as the Wyvern and Stormvermin charged the giant mob. One of the small skavenslave unit charged the Arrer Boyz and three fell while charging, arrows protruding from their eyes and chests. Since Queek couldn't see the Black Orcs he was unable to charge them, but he did manoeuvre to take a shot at Kerplunk with his pistol. However, the motley skavenslaves nearby put him off and his shot missed. "Curse their worthless hides!! They will all be flayed alive afterward!!" he thought to himself. One Globadier followed the slaves, and headed for the Arrer Boyz. He lobbed a deadly globe in the Arrer boyz direction and one Orc succumbed to the poisonous gases. The fleeing slaves
and gutter runners didn't rally. The huge melee around the Black Orcs began with the Wyvern gobbling down two Black Orcs, and the Warlock decapitated another. Two assassins leaped out of the Stormvermin unit, and the first skewered one of the Black Orc Bosses. The other killed two more Black Orcs. The Stormvermin then impaled three more of the elite greenskins. In total, nine black orcs were killed, but worst of all was the loss of their rank bonus due to the Wyverns flank attack. The other Black Orc boss managed to cut down two Stormvermin but due to the Rending Sword, four wounds were caused. The Black Orcs still broke and fled and the entire unit, 38 Black Orcs, were killed in one turn by a fraction of their number! The mainstay of the Orc army now dead, so did Kerplunk, his nerve finally broken, and as he fled he was burned to death by a bolt from Kritak's Staff of Flaming Death. The skavenslaves attacked the Arrer Boyz, failing to kill any, and receiving two casualties in return, they turned tail(literally) and ran for it.
With not much to do, Skullstomp grabbed what sections of the board he could by moving his boarboyz forward. With most of the army dead, he grunted in approval as the remaining Arrer Boyz all fired on the helpless Poison Wind Globadier in front of them. Some small revenge at least. Shaking his fist at the Skaven General, he swore that he would have revenge.......
