Falun Dafa directly points to human hearts. It clearly points out that cultivation of Xinxing is the key to the increase of Gong. The height of Xinxing determines the height of Gong. Xinxing covers the transformation of De ( virtue, a kind of white substance) and Ye (karma, a kind of black substance), Ren, awakening quality, forsaking and giving up all kinds of desires and attachments of ordinary people, and the ability to endure the hardship of the hardships, including many different aspects. Falun Dafa also has the part of human life cultivation, and the practice of movements is required to serve this purpose. On the one hand, the movements are used to strengthen one's supernormal capabilities and the mechanism through powerful energy potency, on the other hand, many living entities will be evolved in one's body. When cultivating at higher dimensions, Yuanying (the Primal Infant) will come into being and many magic skills will be evolved. Such things all need to be evolved through practising the movements. An integrated cultivation system for both human nature and life requires not only cultivation but also practice, where cultivation is placed ahead of practice. "Without cultivating Xinxing, Gong will not increase by practice alone." "Movements are the auxiliary means of reaching consummation in cultivation."

Falun Dafa cultivates a Falun. Falun is an intelligent, spinning body of high energy substance. The Falun planted into the lower abdomen of the practitioner by Master Li Hongzhi keeps revolving unceasingly 24 hours a day and will automatically help with the cultivation (A true practitioner may acquire a similar Falun through reading Master Li's books, or through watching video tapes or listening to magnetic tapes of Law-preaching sessions given by Master Li, or through his practice and cultivation activities together with other students of the Great Law.) In other words, though the practitioner does not practise all his hours, Falun will unceasingly cultivate him instead. "It is the only cultivation system which is able to achieve a state of 'Law refining the practitioner' among all cultivation schools which have been spread in the contemporary world."

"The rotating Falun has the same quality as that of the cosmos and is a miniature of the universe. The Falun of the Buddhas' School, Yin and Yang of the Taoist school and everything in the Ten Directions of the universe are reflected in Falun without exception. When turning (clockwise) inward, Falun offers salvation to the practitioner himself. It will absorb a considerable amount of energy from the cosmos so as to evolve it into the 'cultivation energy'. When turning (counter-clockwise) outward, Falun provides salvation to others. It will release energy to save all sentient beings and rectify all kinds of improper conditions, benefiting all people around the practitioner."

Falun Dafa "is comprehensive, harmonious, brilliant, intelligent and its movements are simple and pithy; the Great Way of cultivation is simple and easy to practise." The originality of Falun Dafa which differentiates it from any other cultivation system can be summarized into following 8 points:
    (1) it cultivates Falun; it does not cultivate the elixir nor the elixir is to be formed;
    (2) Falun practises you while you are not practising exercises;
    (3) it cultivates the Main Consciousness; it is yourself who will acquire the cultivation energy;
    (4) it cultivates both human nature and life;
    (5) the five sets of practice exercises are simple and easy to learn;
    (6) the practitioner cultivates without mind-intent, free of deviation, and his cultivation energy grows rapidly;
    (7) it requires no consideration of place, time, and direction in practice, and no ending of practice either; and
    (8) the practitioner is protected by the Master's Law Body, no harassing from external evils is to be feared."
Therefore, in theory, Falun Dafa differs completely from other conventional cultivation ways as well as internal Alchemy doctrines of the various cultivation schools or sects.

Falun Dafa starts its cultivation at a very high dimension right from the beginning. It provides a most convenient, quickest, the best and also the rarest cultivation system for those predestined lucky ones and those who have practised for many years but failed to increase their cultivation energy. "After the cultivator's energy potency and Xinxing have reached a certain level, then he shall realize the attainment of an indestructible body of Vajra through his cultivation in this world, open his cultivation energy and becomes enlightened, making integral sublimation to the high dimension. A person of strong will should follow the Orthodox Law, attain the right fruit, upgrade Xinxing and get rid of all attachments before he (she) can be regarded as achieving consummation in cultivation."
