| WHAT A SPECTACLE! Football rulers Fifa have told shortsighted footballers they can wear specs and not contact lenses in future. The news came as a number of top players revealed they are suffering with failing eyesight which can ruin careers, with Fifa saying as long as the eyewear isn't going to harm either the player concerned or an opponent, then it's all right to start to wear the specs. Of course, in the past, Celtic's Tommy Burns and Rangers Willie Henderson were as blind as bats on the field, and that didn't do their careers any harm, with Jim Leighton the best-known contact lense wearer.
