Mitch
has been singing and playing guitar since he was eight years old. From a family
Fergusons who had ties to generations of music, Mitch has continued his family’s
tradition of music and stage fun. Currently, Mitch is the leader of Finvarra, a
band eight years in existence. Before forming Finvarra, Mitch played at weddings,
coffeehouses, bars and restaurants, and private parties for over 12 years in
various other bands and as a soloist. Many of the Raleigh North Carolina locations have
included: Tír Na nÓg, Rí Rá, Hibernian, Connolly’s Pub, The Piper’s
Tavern, and the James Joyce in Durham. These many past years, Mitch continued to
return back home to Ireland and performed in Belfast, Dublin and in Limerick and
County Clare in the southwest of Ireland. Two tours to Glasgow, Scotland, and
the Isle of Skye were added in 1996 and 1998. In addition to performing Irish folk and rock
music, Mitch also plays Brit rock, Americana, and Blues styles.

Virgil
has been doing music since he was a child. He started playing guitar at the age
of 10. He sang in high school and college chorus as well as church choirs. He
started playing fiddle about 5 years ago and has been hooked on Irish music ever
since.

Larry
has been a North Carolina resident for more than 25 years. He received a BS in
Math and a BA in Music from UNC-Greensboro. His interests include acting and
theatre (non-professional), as well as music (professional and non-professional
percussion and hammered dulcimer). Larry released a CD ("A Dulcet
Christmas") with Chris Ralph in 1999.

Our Promise To You
|
|
Finvarra is a band dedicated to the continuance of
Irish and Scottish Celtic music into the 21st Century. We perform folksongs and
reels both ancient and contemporary. We use guitar, fiddle, mandolin and bass to
provide that traditional Celtic sound with the sounds of the current era,
creating a unique and energetic blend.
|
|
Finvarra has played venues of all types. These include:
pubs, coffeehouses, weddings, private parties, bookstores and radio shows. The variety
and craic of all the venues gave the band loads of experience necessary to play for
any type of occasion you are planning.
|
|
We, therefore, promise to you on the day of your
occasion for you and your group, a performance of quality, performance style and
arrangements that provide exactly the right sound for your needs whether it be
background music for your party or an upbeat musical set of arrangements complete
with Finvarra energy.
|
|
Also, to add to the Irish arrangements, Finvarra
performs over 400 contemporary songs from the folk and rock styles. We encourage
you to ask for songs that you might want to add to your unique occasion. We want
this to be the most fabulous music you could possibly ask for! Slán.
