Glendalough

Co. Wicklow

Ireland

I went on a walk on Easter Monday 2007 to Glendalough, Co. Wicklow. We spent several hours walking up the glen and back around the other side. Quite spectacular views from up there. These are some of the photos I took in Glendalough.
Glendalough is the glen of two lakes. This is what is known as the lower lake:
This a lovely shot as we went up one side, looking across to the other side of the glen with a beautiful rainbow:
Further up, I took this shot looking down on the two lakes:
This is another, this time of the upper lake:
Coming down the other side, you can see the ruggedness of the glen and a small waterfall in the centre of the photo:
Glendalough was a monastic site, going as far back as the 6th century. A lot of the ruins are still there. This is one of the round tower, which is reckoned to be from somewhere between the 10th and 12th century:
It was a lovely day and there were hundreds of people out walking or just taking in the scenery.
