The following report represents the position of the Irish Dental Association on community water fluoridation. It is based primarily on the results of national and international research conducted by scientists whose findings have been published in internationally recognised peer reviewed professional journals.
It also reflects the position of nearly 100 international organisations which recognise the public health benefits of community water fluoridation for preventing dental decay. These include the World Health Organisation, the Federation Dentaire Internationale, the American Dental Association, the American Medical Association and the International Association for Dental Research.
