Don't Keep Your Eggs in One Basket
By Aaron Rodgers

I woke up to the sound of Mum shouting "Come on Aaron, I’m leaving for the shops in half an hour. Get a move on.” “I’m too tired, leave me alone",  I grumbled.  “Aaron, get up now,” she shouted again. “And remember - don’t bring all your savings, just a few pounds”. “Okay, I’m coming”. I said, rising from my slumber. I got dressed and grabbed my wallet containing all my money. Mum was beeping the horn in the car. I ran out the door quickly. “What took you so long?” she demanded. “My alarm didn’t go off in time”, I replied meekly.

Soon we reached the shops. I asked if I could look at some of the CDs and toyshops. Mum agreed.  “Don’t spend all of your money”, she warned.  “Alright Mum” I sighed. I ran straight to the CD shop. I wanted to buy a new CD for my stereo.

Eventually I found one I liked and went over to pay for it. I put my hand into my pocket but, to my despair, my wallet was gone. I put back the CD  and ran to the car park. I searched the ground, but could not find my wallet anywhere. Then, to my horror, I saw my mum coming out of the shop with a big trolley full of groceries. “What’s wrong Aaron?” she inquired. “I can’t find my wallet,” I cried. “Never mind Aaron.  There was only a few pounds in it anyway,” she said, trying to console me. “I forgot take out my savings” “What? she roared  "I deliberately told you to take it out”  “I’m sorry Mum, I forgot”  I said, starting to cry. Mum was very angry. She said sternly “This will teach you not to keep all your eggs in one basket".
