Hallowe'en
 Elaine Rooney

Witches, Ghosts and Spirits
Fly around tonight;
But how do they
Fly up so high?
Witches on their broomsticks,
Ugly ones about;
Wrinkled skin and bony hands -
Oh you'd better watch out!

There’s the Devil
Standing at the door,
With big red horns
Ready to roar.
There’s the vampire
With his big sharp fangs,
Ready to go around
To suck more blood.

There are the kids,
Going off to trick or treat;
Saying “Trick or Treat smell my feet,
Give me something nice to eat”.
They’re dressed up as witches,
Some with black hats;
And others with black cats,
As well as black hats.

Some with green faces,
And a pointed nose;
Others with warts on
Their noses and toes.
There’s the ghost
That wailed all night,
Until he woke us up
And gave us all a fright.

There are the demons
That swirl around;
Trying to frighten a greyhound.
There are the spirits
That glide about,
In the cemetery
Flying as they shout.
