Making Contact

Our school is currently engaged in an email project with three other schools around Ireland - Corville N.S., Roscrea, Co. Tipperary;  Ballynarry N.S., Ballyheelan, Co. Cavan; St. Pius X N.S., Terenure, Dublin.  Hi to the teachers in the other schools  involved - Damien White, Peadar Quealy and John Canavan.

Our Principal, Tom Feeley, has been seconded from the school as Regional Co-ordinator (Ireland North West and West) for the new DES School Development Planning Initiative - Primary which was announced by the Minister for Education & Science on 20 May 1999.    Initially the focus of this initiative will be on promoting School Development Planning (SDP) in schools serving designated areas of disadvantage.  444  schools were included in 1999 with a further 1,200 in 2000.  It is intended to extend the initiative to all primary schools in the country by 2002.  There are currently  44 part-time SDP facilitators appointed who, with the Co-ordinators,  work directly with schools.  We wish him well in his new post.
