Smoke Free Leitrim
From
Sixth Class
This is our third year to be involved
in the Smoke-Free Leitrim Project. The project is organised by the
Health Education section of the North Western Health Board. Starting
when we were in fourth class in 1997, the project will continue until we
are in second year, post-primary.
We learn about the dangers and apparent
attractions of cigarette smoking. We do lots of project work with
our teacher Miss Gallagher. We did a big project on our area using
our class computer. It was published in full colour in the Leitrim
Observer!
In March 1999 three of our class were
winners in the "Design a Poster Competition". Leeann Gallagher,
Claire Gibbons and Áine McGowan met with Mary McAleese, President
of Ireland, and were presented with certificates and a plaque for the school.
