Knockadoon Folk Liturgy e-news

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2002

Hi Everyone,

Hello everyone and welcome once again to our monthly newsletter.

Videos
They've arrived - the videos are finally here.

Firstly - sorry about the delay - we had a problem with getting some videos converted into the American version so we've only just received our order this morning.

Here's the thing - before we send out videos to you all, we need to get your 15 euro. Sorry about this but we have no funds in our account and have had to pay upfront for the videos so we need your cash before we can post them on to you.

Please send on your 15 euro as soon as possible to:
Tricia Nolan
512 Main Street
Tallaght
Dublin 24

As soon as we receive your payment we will forward on the video to you. You can send cash, cheque or a postal order to the address above.

Also please note that we only have enough copies of the video for those who have ordered them so if you didn't order a video originally, we will not be able to forward one on to you.

Dates for KAD 2003

Just to let you all know that the dates for KAD 2003 are provisionally 16 - 23 August 2003. Put these dates in your diary now!! We will be in touch with you all early in the new year to confirm these dates and to send out applications. Please note, there has already been a huge interest in next years course so if you're not in early you may not get a place.

Rumour has it that we may have some special guest directors joining us once again next year - we'll keep you posted!!

Our web page

We continue to keep our web page as up-to-date and informative as possible. Why not avail of the facility of the discussion forum and the Chat room to generate debate and chat.

Reunion

I've decided to fill you all in on how the reunion went seeing as some of you missed it. It's been mad, we've had such a great response to it. I've been stopped by so many people about it that I cannot believe it. All the kids and teachers from school thought it was the bomb. So roll on the next instalment of "Magnifi-Kad Reunion 2002(veery well done Dave!!)"

So What happened... Dave Keane arrived on Friday evening and myself, Dave and the two Sineads went for dinner and what was supposed to be a session. However we had a few drinks and Dave well and truly faded on us. I was heartbroken, but all the better for it the next morning. We have to forgive him for it though... he was on a bus for most of the day and that will take it's toll on a young lad!!

On Saturday I was working till 4, so Sinead and Dave went to pump up beds (this was where Dave tried to kill our Prior by tripping him up!!) and sort out all the essentials such as collecting drum kits and amps!! Then came the arrival of Donal and the lovely Ria. Later we had to make relay trips to the bus station to collect random straggles that were to make up our choir (31 in total). Dinner of Pizza, Garlic bread and non alcoholic beverages was then served to the troops before we hit into voice warm ups courtesy of Donal. We then went for a sound check/rehearsal in the church which has no dynamics at all!!!

Things got a tad heated here as most people were tired from travelling, Dave was hyper and wanted to bang everything. Donal was left with the impossible task of co-ordinating us all and trying to inspire a crowd of ratty women & Brenton & Brian was not an easy task. Donal however, was triumphant as usual and pulled us all together just in time for the highlight of the rehearsal. Now picture this... 21 people in the choir, side stepping, clapping, clicking and basically going mental, one drum kit and a very excited drummer. 2 guitars, 1 electric. Sinead my darling sister having a fit while images of excommunication ran through her head at regular intervals, and Mammy Paula standing on the alter waving her arms in the air like a demented windmill to with you by my side... a sight that had to be seen to be believed.

Next we went upstairs for munchies and to watch the concert video which is great (thank you Daddy Brenton) All was fairly civilized - just the usual threats of people being put through windows... nothing to exciting. At this stage I had to leave as I was having house guests and had ignored them for the best part of the day!! So any gossip from there will have to be filled in by one of the others.

Mass was a great success. Fr Cusack came out and introduced us all and then we broke into Let all Creation, and all the fears of the night before were lost as the whole thing fell into place. A place at the table, the Dawn, Where your treasure is, Dom Mag and With you by me Side were our chosen pieves, and it was great.

Fr Cusack told us to do whatever we wanted after the final hymn so we did On the Journey and Let all Creation again, and all the people stayed, the church was still full at 1.20 which is mad as all out congregation leave at communion time!!

So all in all it was a great success. we've been getting really possitive feedback as I've said so maybe I'll get a wee folk group started next year!!

So now you've not missed out on anything!! Will chat you all soon.

Love Edel xxx

and Finally...

I just want to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas. It's been great working with you all during 2002 and I hope that we will all continue our calling "To Praise, To Bless, To Preach" in the year ahead.

Take it easy

Tricia
