 The Fionn Project
This exciting project is a coming together of 26 primary schools in Co. Galway with the purpose of making science in school a fun subject and also helping to introduce science as a subject in the school's curriculum.
Fionn Project in Carnaun School
Fionn Mac Cumhaill - Did you know that Fionn Mac Cumhaill and the Fianna often visited Carnaun. Yes they did! Another of their leaders, Gol Mac Morna lived in Carnaun Hilltop Fort. It was once called "Colghar Goill". Goll Mac Morna was a brother of Conán Maol Mallachtach Mac Mórna ( Bald Conán of the cursed tounge -or Conán the Barbarian as he is now known in TV programmes of the present day). Tobar na bhFiann is our next townland and there are a number of fullacht Fai in the area where the Fianna cooked their food after a day's hunting.
Note: This is our last year officially in the Fionn Science Project. We congratulate Brendan Smith, our co-ordinator on his wonderful work and the staff on Galway Education Centre, also, for their help and encouragement throughout the project. Many thank also to  NUIG Lectures and Staff who helped the various schools achieve a very high academic standard throughout the project.
Good Man Brendan!!!
