Janine - Teacher from Germany
Janine came to Athenry in August 2001 and stayed in with a school family with whom she got on very well. Having attended an inservice Primary Teacher's course in Athenry during the last week in August she came to Carnaun School at the start of the term with a good knowledge of the area and with lots of friends in Athenry and Galway.  

Janine stayed in Carnaun School for 6 very enjoyable week and all were sorry to see her leave to continue her studies in Hamburg. If her interest in her work in Carnaun School is any indication she will surely achieve the highest standard in her studies in Hamburg. Janine visited Newcastle School during her stay in Athenry and thinks highly of our Irish schools. 

She left our pupils with a good knowledge of Germany and with quite a few sentences in her native language. 
 
 
 
 

Maria seen in the second picture joined Janine for a few very enlightening days in our classroom also. 
 

 
Tim another friend of Janine's called for a few days! An engineering student in Hamburg.  
Tim was interested in the quality of water, helped us in our waste management project and also with maths.
