 CARNAUN
NATIONAL SCHOOL
I am an Irish child. I live in a village called Belville which is about
5km. from the nearest town which is Athenry Co. Galway. I live with my
Mammy and Daddy and my brother. My father is an Engineer and my Mother
is a planner in Galway Co. Council. I attend school in Carnaun every day
from Monday to Friday. Carnaun is a co-ed school. School begins at nine
o clock and ends at three o clock. I travel to school by van or school
bus.
First we do Maths and English and then we have our lunch at 11.o.clock until 10 past 11.00. We do Irish and Religion afterwards and also have break from 12.30 until about one fifteen when we play 40.40 or catch or maybe dodge ball. Classes 4th 5th and 6th play together normally while the younger children have another playground. When we come in we have History and Geography or maybe Science or a story. On Tuesday we have Rugby in our P.E. Class. My Mammy and Daddy go to work everyday. When I go home I do my homework when I am finished I go with my father to work in the workshop. I drive the forklift and lift the bales of steel from the racks. I very much like working with my father. I don’t have any special chores I just pull my weight when I have to. I love minding my favourite little brother. Often, very early in the morning, before I go to school, my father and I go to Tynagh in the south of County Galway to deliver or collect steel as there is a steel dipping plant there. Every morning for breakfast I have toast and orange juice and for dinner I love cabbage and bacon. Cabbage and bacon and Irish Stew are favourite Irish dinners. We all enjoy Fridays as we often get a take away at the weekends for our dinner. Saturday is my favourite day of the weekends because my best friends Clodagh and Rosie and I go for long cycles and they come over to my house or I go to theirs. I enjoy Saturdays very much. Sunday is a holy day, a peace day, and importantly a family day. I go to Mass in the church in Athenry on Sundays with my family. I enjoy my life as an Irish child very much.
