CARNAUN NATIONAL SCHOOL   All over now! Until the next time ! This was a great success and well worth while not alone for the visitors but also for the School Children who were involved in the project with the members of our community.  The Lambert Symposium  A Symposium / Reunion was planned for the Weekend of 18-20th June 1999 in Athenry.   Its focus?  The Lambert Families, Sir Edward Carson and Castle Ellen with glimpses of other aspects of the surrounding countryside, its historical, literary, cultural and economic perspective.  All Lambert descendants, their friends and and interested people were invited to Athenry for the weekend gathering!  to include, amongst other diversions, a "welcome / get to know one another" reception on Friday evening.   There was an illustrated talk, by Donal Taheny, on the old country houses of the area in Carnaun School on Saturday morning and also an exhibition of research done on  the project. Later that day a book, "The Lamberts of Athenry" to celebrate the event, was launched.   On Saturday night the venue will be Castle Ellen House, one of the many "big houses" in the area belonging to the Lambert families.   On Sunday a Tour of these Lambert properties was organised.  There was a lot of interest and a huge crowd of Lamberts and local people arrived.   Return to the top  Back to more innovative School projects!   Back to School Homepage!  SCOIL NÁISIÚNTA CARNÁIN  BAILE ÁTHA 'N RÍ
